A workshop owner put it to me exactly like that last week: "whoever arrives late loses the day, that's how they learn." It sounds logical from the employer's chair. The problem is that the Federal Labor Law says otherwise, and there is no gray area here. Deducting a full day's pay because someone arrived fifteen minutes late is not discipline: it is a fine, and fines for workers are prohibited.
