A chain of five gastronomic establishments in Córdoba put the problem to me in one sentence: "Each manager sends me their attendance sheet on Monday, on paper or via WhatsApp, and I put everything together in an Excel at the end of the month. When there is a discrepancy, I don't know if it's a data entry error or if the employee was actually late.". That scene is repeated in thousands of Argentine SMEs with branches. Here I explain why timekeeping scattered by location is an operational and legal hole, and how centralizing it changes the day-to-day.
