I'll tell you straight, because I've been hearing nonsense since the regulation came out: the Bases Law did not repeal the 8-hour daily or 48-hour weekly workday. Law 11.544, which has governed the subject since 1929, remains fully in force. What changed is something else, and mixing them up can be costly if you are an employer or a union delegate. In this note, I separate myth from real fact, with articles in hand, so you know what the reform touched and what it didn't.

The Bases Law did NOT change the 8-hour workday in Argentina. What really changed, what stayed the same, and how it affects your SME. Hours bank, severance fund, and probationary period.
